Mahler: Symphony No. 6, Strauss: Emperor Waltzes

Join the members of the Lehigh University Philharmonic for a stirring performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 6, which marked a turning point in classical music history from Late Romanticism into Modernism. Baker Hall will reverberate with Mahler’s fateful hammer blows on a mammoth acoustic box constructed specially for this event!

 


Concerto Marathon; with music of Star Wars by John Williams and Spartacus by Aram Khatchaturian

Director Eugene Albulescu cordially invites everyone to our annual Concerto Marathon! Members of the LU Philharmonic perform concerto favorites with the orchestra, and join together for stirring performances of music from the big screen to please the entire audience. 

 


Christopher Gross, Horger Artist-in-Residence and Holst: The Planets

The orchestra performs Holst’s evocative suite of planetary portraits under the direction of Eugene Albulescu. Christopher Gross, the Theodore U. Horger ’61 Artist-in-Residence for the Performing and Visual Arts, also is featured performing Lutoslawski’s Concerto for Cello and Orchestra.
